Tri-Partite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the DENR, Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) and BLGU of Himama-ug, Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte was successfully conducted on August 5, 2021 at the Municipality of Tagana-an. It was spearheaded by CENRO Ruel E. Efren of CENRO Tubod, PENRO representative DMO-IV/Chief, CDS Joselina L. Casanova, HMC Resident Mine Manager represented by Engr. Edwin R. Casiano, Municipal Mayor of Tagana-an Hon. Cesar B. Diaz, Jr. and the recipient of the project brgy. Captain of Himama-ug Hon. Leonardo C. Alce.
Said project is funded by the Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) in compliance to their commitment on the agreements during the CARAGA Mine Environment and Management Council Meeting to include on the DENR Programs in the Annual Environment Protection and Enhancement Program CY 2020.
The Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) is one of the small scale irrigation technologies developed by the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) to address the problems on supply and allocation of water in certain watershed community. This project has been recommended as one of the conservation measures which will benefit the communities within certain watershed to enhance and stabilize the condition of soil and provide enough water supply in the area. Functions of the SWIP are the following: (a) it can restrain water during rain events and functions as reservoir; (b) flood control; (c) ground water recharge; (d) aquaculture; (e) domestic water use; (f) water for livestock; and (g) recreation/ecotourism.

Efren expressed his appreciation and thanks to Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) for their overwhelming support and making this project possible which is part of the implementation of their Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, same with the Local Government Unit of Tagana-an for their valuable support and cooperation in all DENR Environmental Programs and Project.
