Turned-over ceremony of four (4) Units of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was recently concluded on August 10, 2021 at BLGU of San Juan and Sabang, all in Surigao City. It was participated and witnessed by DENR PENRO Chief Technical Services Division (TSD), For. Joseph E. Langanlangan, DMO-IV/CDS Chief Joselina L. Casanova, Deputy CENRO Frederick S. Lapitan, City ENRO Engr. Elmer C. Tecson, TMC OIC MEPEO Engr. Vince Ivan Libao and Agapito Cuadra with the Barangay Officials of San Juan and Sabang.

This project is line with the adoption of Sabang River adapted and funded by Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) as part of the “Recognizing Individuals/Institutions towards Vibrant and Enhanced Rivers (R.I.V.E.R.S.) for Life Program which aims to raise awareness of the need to protect and conserve the rivers in the country.

The essence of this activity is to address one of the (10) ten priority program of the Department which is in compliance to Republic Act 9003 or Solid Waste Management in convergence with BLGU of San Juan and Sabang, Surigao del Norte funded by Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC) as the donor of Four (4) Material Recovery Facility.

OIC-Chief, TSD Joseph E. Langanlangan really gave his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Mining Company and BLGU with the guidance of the CITY ENRO for their utmost support and cooperation in the preservation, protection and conservation of the environment. Thus, in his message, he really emphasized and challenged the Officials from the Barangay Local Government Unit that the protection of the environment is its EVERYONE’S DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY wherein everyone should take part in conserving and protecting our environment for the future generations.

Proper health protocols were observed during the activity.
