Department of Enviroment and Natural Resources (DENR) Surigao del Norte headed by OIC PENR Officer Alejandra B. Boiser conducts a simultaneous activities on April 22, 2022 in celebration to Planet Earth and Earth Day 2022 with the theme “Invest in Our Planet” which rallies for the courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, and our livelihoods by investing in our planet.

A Tree Planting activity was conducted at Provincial Tree Park, Brgy. Ipil, Surigao City. A total of 300 seedlings of Mahogany, Kalingag, and Mancono were planted by the 63 participants composed of 37 female and 26 male. It was participated by the Students from Cebu Doctors, Saint Paul University Surigao (SPUS), Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT), Northeastern Mindanao Colleges (NEMCO), Claver National High School, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources-Province, City ENRO, Silangan Mining Corp, Marajaw Anglers of Surigao, Happy Mountaineers, Philippine Army and PENRO SDN Personnel.

On the same day, a Clean-up Drive was also conducted in Washington-Kinabutan River in Brgy. Washington, Surigao City in partnership with the Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC) as one of the mining companies who adopt-a-river in Kinabutan River as part of the Rivers for Life Program of the department. It was participated by the Brgy. Officials of Washington, Barangay Health Workers, resident, HMC personnel, PENRO and CENRO Tubod personnel. A total of 72 participants composed of 21 Male and 51 Female with the total of 40 sacks of garbage collected which equivalent to more or less 1,200 kilograms and properly disposed to sanitary landfill of Surigao City

Moreover, the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) Tubod headed by CENR Officer Ruel E. Efren in partnership with THPAL and BLGU of Nabago, Surigao City conducted mangrove tree planting and coastal clean-up in Brgy. Nabago, Surigao City. A total of 1,000 propagules of Rhizophora sp. were planted by thirty one (31) volunteers from THPAL, BLGU and CENRO Personnel with (13) female and (18) male.
