Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR PENRO SDN) headed by OIC, PENR Officer Agapito T. Patubo recently concluded clean-up drive along the coastline of Sitio Looc Beach, Brgy. Punta Bilar, Surigao City.

A total of forty (40) sacks of garbage were collected by the sixty (60) personnel of PENRO SDN composed of plastic bottles, fish nets, used clothes, diapers and face masks which properly disposed at the sanitary landfill of Surigao City.

Thus, Scubasurero was also conducted at the City Boulevard of Surigao City. It was participated by thirty eight (38) participants with fifteen (15) divers coming from different agencies, namely: Regional Maritime Unit R13, Taganito Mining Corporation (TMC), Hinatuan Mining Corporation (HMC), Philippine Coastguard, JR Current Dive, City ENRO and PENRO Divers.

A total of seven (7) sacks of non-biodegradable trash were collected and turned-over to the City ENRO of Surigao City for proper disposal.

This year’s ICC theme “Fighting for Trash Free Seas-Pilipinas:Ending the Flow of Trash at the Source” which was adopted from the Ocean Conservancy which seeks to provide practical solution that empower people, strengthen science, engage everyone in solutions and promote good policies.
