The DENR PENRO-Conservation Development Section spearheaded the conduct of Community Education Public Awareness (CEPA) last March 8, 2019, Friday in support to the celebration of World Wildlife Day (WWD) CY 2019. The activity was conducted at Punta Bilar Elementary School and Sabang Elementary School. The main objective of the activity is to raise public awareness especially to children and to inculcate the importance and value of marine wildlife and how to protect, conserve and sustainably manage these species.

The activity was participated by 107 pupils of whom 52 are females and 55 males as recorded. They are composed of Grade IV, V and VI pupils.

This year’s theme “Life below water: for people and planet” highlights the importance of marine species and marine environment to our daily lives. This supports the Goal 14 of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). As part of our country’s commitment to Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), we are enjoined to participate in this global event.
